Taj is a hockey coach – on the pitch all day, everyday and he works with many different types of player: young/old, fit/unfit, tall/little. He is a firm believer in practice what you preach and the ability to SHOW and demonstrate what the skill or situation requires is of utmost importance. There may be many coaches out there unable able to move well enough, or even have the skill to demonstrate in a competent manner, but not our Taj.

Although Taj has been plagued with injuries which we’ve had to work around, together we’ve made some real progress. Not only has Taj been able to maintain the high quality of coaching from a physical aspect, his general lifestyle and well-being has also improved. Check below to see Taj’s story.

An avid hockey player, Sunny has been a member of Surbiton Hockey Club for quite some time. She asked Ali whether he could help her get faster and stronger which would be a great asset for her two sports, hockey and cricket.

Over the course of four months, Sunny has continuously made strengths gains while showing improvements in her sprint and agility run times. Weights sessions in the studio and pitch work related to Sunny’s specific sports have resulted in increased athletic ability and more successful performances on pitch – as a team we couldn’t be happier! Jamie is one of Ali’s old school friends – they’ve known each other for absolute ages! Jamie had had enough of living on a poor diet, living it up large on the weekends and struggling to find motivation to exercise.

After being in the studio with Ali and training hard along with a steady nutrition plan, Jamie’s energy levels have gone through the roof! Not only does he feel more energized throughout the day, there has been some obvious changes in his body composition. A flatter tummy with bigger and defined arms are the immediately obvious improvements he has made.

With the goal of a more toned body and a slightly bulkier frame, Jamie is hitting the weights hard with some additional cardio work every morning, usually in the form of a stroll down by the river! Check out Jamie’s story below.

Chrissie started training in 2014 with the desire to change her body. She joined us with a strong will and determination to become a healthier and more active person.

With a busy work schedule and active social life she found it hard to find time to be active. When she did find the time, often didn’t know what to do, especially in the gym.

Slowly but surely, progress has been made. Chrissie now has more energy, sleeps better, eats more sensibly and best of all, loves being active!

Will is an aspiring hockey player who has represented England U16, England U 18 and England U21 in numerous competitions and currently plays his club hockey for National Premiership side Surbiton HC. Will has been blessed with quick feet and a slender frame which is almost the perfect physical make-up for hockey. However, when playing against stronger, aggressive and more physical opponents he has found it hard in certain situations to play to his full potential.

 

This is when Will asked us if we could help him bulk up – we were delighted to help! One challenge we faced was keeping Will quick and mobile – a potential downfall of putting on muscle mass is the decrease in acceleration, top speed and agility. With the correct training programme and nutritional advice, Will has already seen great improvements in his physical composition!

 

We are still working together to continue his good progress and we hope to see him playing for the full England Mens Squad in the future! Take a look below to see Will working on his maximal strength with 1RM back squats!
